Below is a pic of the finished engine compartment, so far it's been running great.

Day One! This is how the Saudi's left it.

I ordered this M151A2 while on tour in Iraq, June 2004. The interesting part was that while I talked to the dealer on my Sat phone we had to contend with artillery explosions in the background as we fired on suspected Iraqi insurgents. This MUTT came from the Saudi government and was purchased from an MV dealer in Germany.

27 Oct 04- body repairs and painting near finish

Now progress is happening! The great work was done for me by the dealer in Germany, he did a wonderful job! Still a little painting left but, he's almost there! I've scheduled a pick up for 30 Sept 1800! Already have a garage rented off post at a friends house (detached rental garage/storage unit) for 35 euros a month, another MVer is restoring his 41 Slat Grill next to me, should be a great winter!

As far as I can tell, the motor should run fine, it looks nearly new. While I was in Iraq I made orders through the internet and Sat phone for parts I know I'll always need on a typical MV. Mostly the rubber parts, hoses, belts, lamps, seats, wiring, etc. The basics I chose for selecting the vehicle was little rust, good tires, uncut body with minimal damage. I'll admit my first impression was a little dissapointing, it looked like it was drug along behind the ship as it came to Germany! So the owner agreed to some metal work for me.

Most folks ask me how I plan on getting this home to the states when I leave germany next year, the answer is pretty simple, cargo container. Along with another vehicle I have, I'll put them in and send them along. Of course I'll ensure I'm in compliance with customs regulations before hand. If you're interested in buying a good MUTT or some of his many other MV's (M38, M38A1, M35A2, M715, M1009, etc)
See my LINKS PAGE for Murlock Motors in germany, he has no problems exporting to the USA.

Below is a before pic of the engine compartment, not too pretty.
